WHAT TO WEAR: Rainy Days

Summer rain could quite possibly be one of the most difficult things to dress for, especially in New England. The day I met this Fashionista, I can remember actually saying to myself, “How am I supposed to dress for this?” When it’s too cold to wear flip flops and shorts, but too humid to wear full on rain gear, what is a girl to do?

This Fashionista embraced her grunge style and still managed to keep dry, while navigating her way through the precipitation that graced us with its presence. She paired a babydoll dress from Brandy Melville with an oversized, flannel button-down.

Thrift stores are a great place to find cheap and unique pieces. If you have the time, take a trip over to your local Salvation Army or Goodwill. You can look great and feel great because you are supporting a good cause while you shop!

If you don’t have the time, like so many of us don’t, fear not! You can achieve the same look by way of your friendly neighborhood Urban Outfitters. They do the hard part for you and select perfectly worn-in flannel shirts that are yours for the taking.

Let’s face it, city streets are rough terrain to begin with. If you add a slick coating of water beating down on top of that, it spells trouble with a capital “T.” Dr. Martens are one of the few footwear options that are appropriate for all types of weather. This Fashionista uses her’s to make a fashion statement and to keep dry.

This fashion-forward urbanite is proof that the ‘90s are making a comeback. So grab your tattoo choker necklaces and mood rings and get on board because this trend is here to stay!

One Simple Change: Trade in the flannel for a leather biker jacket to bring this look from day to night. Hopefully the rain will be over and done with for time out with your friends!
